Tailwind for asset management and alternatives incentive compensation due to economics of scale and untapped markets. At the same time, incentives face a headwind for banks from business fundamentals and regulation. US major banks’ incentives generally flat, with European banks down moderately. Viable equity increasingly important as compensation element for improved alignment and motivation. Programs often overly broad and unfocused.
