A weak year for Wall Street businesses is pointing towards a sour bonus season.

It’s the second straight year of sagging compensation after a windfall in 2021, when markets surged and corporate dealmaking reached a frenzy. “It’s another disappointing year, and you overlay that with inflation, people’s incomes are down meaningfully,” said Alan Johnson, managing director at Johnson Associates.
